Nitin Gadkari just announced India's first 100% Ethanol car launching June 5. And honestly - I have more questions than excitement.

Let me explain why.

Ethanol has 30% lower energy density than petrol. Mileage will drop. Yes the fuel is cheaper but the math is not as clean as it sounds.

Now here is what nobody is talking about -
From May 15th, E30 fuel has quietly been pushed across pumps in India. 30% ethanol blended into your petrol. Most people filled their tanks without even knowing. Older engines were never built for this.

Long term impact on engine health and rubber components is a real concern nobody is addressing.

And while all this was happening - Maruti quietly increased car prices by ₹30,000.

So let me get this straight. You are selling me a more expensive car. Running it on fuel my engine was not designed for. And calling it progress?

But my biggest concern is something even more fundamental.

Ethanol production needs enormous amounts of water. And India is already facing a serious water crisis. Farmers in Maharashtra, Karnataka and Rajasthan are struggling for drinking water. And we are going to use that same water to grow sugarcane for car fuel?

The intention is right. Energy independence is important. Reducing crude oil imports makes sense.

But the execution needs honesty. Existing car owners deserve answers. Water scarcity cannot be ignored. And premium pricing during a transition that benefits the manufacturer more than the customer is simply not fair.

Progress should not come quietly at the consumer's expense. 🌿
